Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As many of you know, I love plants. Back in November, I moved most of my succulents inside my house before it got really cold. I covered the rest of my plants on my front porch to protect them from freezing. In spite of being covered, the deep cold spell that we had this winter killed many of my front-porch plants. This same thing happened to many of my gardening friends. Recently a friend sent me the picture above—a plant she thought was surely dead is coming back to life! Life from death. We are in Eastertide, and we are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the ultimate picture of life from death!
Saint Peter said in Acts 2:
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know — 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
And by faith in the risen Christ and by surrender to His Lordship, we also experience life from death!
Jesus said in John 5:
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
Saint Paul said in Romans 6:
4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
This Eastertide may we truly rejoice in God’s resurrection power! This Eastertide may we truly experience God’s resurrection power! By the power of the Holy Spirit, may God’s resurrection power flow into every single aspect of our lives.
Lord Jesus, please show us those places within us where death exists. Lord Jesus, please bring Your resurrection life to anything dead in our lives. Amen.
Remember: Only Jesus can bring life from death!
Peace and love in Christ,
