The counted vote is something all of us have on our minds. We, as Americans, got to participate in the governing process by casting our vote in the election of our next president.

There is another vote that got cast for each one of us as believers. This ballot only had you on it and was to determine whether you were worth loving and dying for. No need for polls or predictions on when the vote was cast for you. There was only one voting, and it was God; and there was only one to vote for, and that was you.

Way before we were called to stand and be counted for God, Christ stood and was counted for us.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Colossians 1:7

But not only that, he chose to vote for us while we were unforgiving, lying, coveting … while we were still sinning. God cast His vote for us while we were still broken.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

No great campaign strategy or catchy slogan, no platform of issues, just a Holy God showing His love for a believing sinner.

I have no right to ask for His support or even a Holy glance from His face. But our loving God voted that we be counted as His. That has made me a citizen of heaven. Alleluia!

In Christ,

Rev. Rick Milliorn
